Sweeney

We had a Halloween party tonight, so we pulled it together and hit it out of the park again as Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett. Here are some iphoto preview photos - better photos to follow.

These photos don't actually show our costumes, but they were fun. I found a dress at a costume shop for $9, but it was yellow, so I dyed it dark brown, I found a corset, stockings, shoes, lace gloves, I made sleeves, added lace and it was pretty rad in the end. Someone took a nice pic of us, so I'll post that when I get it.
Love Halloween.

Costumes?

Whit and I are still trying to figure out our Halloween costumes as the time is ticking down. Any of Tim Burton's movies (a favorite of Whit's) are being discussed.
Beetlejuice? Ed Wood? Sweeney Todd?

No, guys, we're not gonna dress like your band, we'd scare too many children.

Truly

If you know me, you know that Truly, Madly, Deeply is my favorite movie of all time, and Juliet Stevenson my favorite actress. I've seen this movie more times than I can count, so I was thrilled to find this clip on youtube about the film and Anthony Minghella. So terribly sad that he is no longer around to create, but thank goodness for film so we can experience his creations forever. I adore Juliet Stevenson. I don't even know how I would react if I ever had the chance to meet her.

Really I post this just so I can watch it when I want to:

illin'

Blah. I've been sick this week. Sunday I started feeling crappy, my throat started hurting and then it hit me full on late that night. I took Monday off of work. Tuesday I went to work but left early when my bosses told me to go (in a loving way - they could tell I was not doing too well). I took yesterday off as well and today I'm back at work. I am getting better little by little, but this cold is hangin' on. I need to take cold medicines to try to combat the symptoms to get me through the day, but the medicines do impact me pretty strongly. I have a weak stomache and they always make me feel a little nauseated. My head is swimming, my eyes feel like they can't quite focus, I feel a little dizzy. I know it's just over the counter, basic cold medicine, but I must have a low tolerance for this stuff, because it makes me feel for real weird.
What did I do with my sick days? I slept, of course. I've been reading The Host by Stephanie Meyers - it's pretty intriguing so far. I watched a Gary Cooper movie I had dvr'd, I think it was called The Wedding Night - it was interesting and sad. Gary Cooper is one of the most gorgeous men of all time. Watched crappy t.v. Slept some more. Watched the debates last night - McCain looked as snarky, condescending and desperate as ever. Obama looked as poised, intelligent and prepared as ever.
Today I am feeling like a disgusting mucus monster. Blow my nose, cough cough cough, chapped lips, red, flaky nose, swirly eyes, blergh. I guess that was some sick-time beat poetry for you. I can get through a two day work week!

Halloween!

We love Halloween. What in the world should we be this year?
Here are a few from previous years:
'07 Han & Leia

'06 Ringleader & Bearded Lady

'04? Lisa & Millhouse

Are we nerdy? Possibly. Do I care? No.
